History of Blasting Solutions Incorporated

 

     On March 25, 2002, Blasting Solutions, Inc. (BSI) was incorporated in the state of Montana. BSI issued 100 shares of capital stock to Barb Woodhall, at that time, establishing her as sole owner with full controlling interest, thus making BSI a Woman Owned Business, certified through WBENC West. The sole purpose of the business was to research and develop explosive tools used in a niche market of the explosive industry.

      In 2001, the company began research and development of a polypropylene clip that would be used for wrapping detonating cord (det cord) in power plant boilers. In 2002, our first explosive tool, the “Quick-Clip”, was developed for the explosive deslagging industry and put into production. BSI worked with patent attorneys between September, 2002, and December, 2003, to obtain a patent for the “Quick-Clip”. On January 6, 2004, BSI was awarded a patent for this “Quick-Clip”. This exclusive patented system, used to wrap back passes, increases our productivity two-fold over traditional methods.

      Between 2002 and 2006, BSI focused solely on the manufacture and resale of the Det Cord Quick-Clip, distributing approximately forty thousand per year. BSI also continued to work on several prototype clips for use in the explosive industry.

      In 2007, research and development was started for a new style of det cord clip. BSI moved into creating a tailored system for attaching det cord to tube banks. This second clip does not alleviate the need for the “Quick-Clip”, rather it adds to its capabilities and choices. This smaller clip is used for situations where immediate disintegration of the clip is needed. The “C-Clip” was put into production in 2010.

      In 2008, BSI changed its focus to enter into the explosive deslagging service arena. This involves utilizing explosives to deslag boilers primarily using coal, wood or fuel oil, through the use of controlled explosive detonations. BSI still stresses research and development by continually improving processes and exploring new and innovative ways to operate safely and efficiently.

      BSI headquarters are in Syracuse, Utah, with offices in Roseville, California; Show Low, Arizona; and White, Georgia. We currently work in over 15 different states, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. We continue to grow and expand every year, along with ongoing research and development, including online shooting. We pride ourselves in state-of-the-art equipment that we believe is the best in the industry. We fulfill all licensing requirements at the state and federal level, along with DOT and Safety Compliance. Our supervisors have 150 combined years of experience in the explosives field and our technicians go through a rigorous training program to ensure a safe and productive environment on the job.
